A temporal analysis(2007-2013) of the dynamics of changein vegetation coverandland use in the river basin Metztitlán, Hidalgo, Mexico was carried out in order toupdatetheir status. A generated map for 2007 with Landsat 5 and Landsat 7 images and SPOT5 and 6 images for 2013 were used.The results showthat the areasused for agriculturalirrigationand unwatered land decreased by 34, 8 and 25,6%, respectively.The analysis of changes indicates that urban use and water bodies increased 305,3 and 82,4%, respectively. It is recommended tomovethe use of images of medium spatial resolution (Landsat), to the use ofhigh-resolution images(SPOT) if the intentionis to evaluatein detail the changes occurring in the region.
