Abstract

VALCARCE ORTEGA, Rosa María  and  GONZALEZ ESPINOSA, Jacqueline. Dual porosity evaluation in karstic aquifers. riha [online]. 2017, vol.38, n.3, pp. 30-40. ISSN 1680-0338.

The karstic aquifers have a dual porosity system: matrix porosity and secondary porosity associated to fractures, fissures, breakup channels, vúgulos, etc. Recent developments of the interpretation methodologies applied to geophysical logs have allowed advancing to dual porosity systems characterization. These developments are able to classify the porous means in low and high capacity of flow. In this work the results of applying these methodologies in Hydrogeological Northern Basin, Matanzas, Cuba are shown. This research allowed evaluation of porosity and permeability. This information is very important for aquifers mathematical modeling for the purpose of its best groundwater exploitation as well as in analysis of pollutants migration.

Keywords : karstic aquifers; groundwater; dual porosity; well logs geophysics.
