Abstract
BLANCO DE LA PAZ, Evelyn; BROWN MANRIQUE, Oscar and MARQUEZ GURRI, Raymundo. Vulnerability to saline intrusion in the southern basin of the province of Ciego de Ávila. riha [online]. 2018, vol.39, n.1, pp. 43-57. ISSN 1680-0338.
In this research, an evaluation of the vulnerability to saline intrusion and groundwater contamination in the hydrogeological sector CA-II-1 of the southern basin of Ciego de Avila was carried out, based on the geophysical analysis, the IVIS index for the estimation of vulnerability to saline intrusion and the mapping of areas at risk of contamination in the aquifer. The results showed that the vulnerability index to saline intrusion is between 37 and 667, classified from insignificant to high. A high vulnerability to pollution was obtained in the central zone of the area. In addition, 258 sources of contamination were identified, where 19 had high contamination and 112 moderate. The map highlights the area of high vulnerability and greater risk to pollution.
