Abstract

This paper presents a methodology for the determination of the coefficients of the mathematical expression of each of the characteristic curves resulting from the placement of rotodynamic pumps in series, starting from knowing the curves of one of them. The proposed methodology is based on the direct relationship that exists between the areas under the curves (polynomials) of a pump and the one corresponding to the case in question (n pumps in series). For this reason, the procedure has been called the Area Method. The aim of this procedure is to determine the coefficients of the characteristic curves resulting from the combination of rotodynamic pumps in series, as well as to provide a tool for knowing the method of obtaining of such characteristic coefficients.
