Abstract

The type of the packing and its characteristic is one of the factors that influence in the hydrodynamics of the column. The adsorption processes with packed column have technical and economic advantages over batch systems. Zeolite can be used in the adsorption process by its high contact surface. In this work, the pressure drop was determined in a packed column with natural zeolite type clinoptilolita. Also was obtained the mathematic model that describes the pressure drop taking into account the packing height, equivalent particle diameter and volumetric flow through the column. The mathematic model described with 92,11% the pressure drop. Mixed liquor from activated sludge from lab scale was used as a liquid to be passed through the column.
