Abstract

TORRES-CALDERON, Soledad; PAUCAR-PALOMINO, Michel Jazmín  and  PAMPA-QUISPE, Noé Benjamín. Adsorption of hydrogen sulfide from biogas through pretreated iron shavings for energy reuse. riha [online]. 2020, vol.41, n.1, pp.18-29.  Epub Apr 01, 2020. ISSN 1680-0338.

The purpose of this study is to determine the efficient hydrogen sulphide (H2S) adsorption system between fixed bed 1 to iron shavings pretreated with hydrochloric acid (HCl) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) at 5,0% and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) with sodium chloride (NaCl) fixed bed tower 2. Tests were performed on the Upflow Anaerobic Reactor (UASB); the measurements were made through direct monitoring (meter of monogas Tango X1) and indirect (measurement of weights). The results indicate that the highest adsorption of H2S occurred in the fixed bed tower 2 with an efficiency of 99, 58 %. As for the weight variation, it increased 69,0 g compared to the one treated with HCl and NaOH, which had 28,6 g.

Keywords : Adsorption; biogas; hydrogen sulfide; fixed bed towers.
