Abstract

VALCARCE ORTEGA, Rosa María; VEGA CARRENO, Marina; RODRIGUEZ MIRANDA, Willy  and  SUAREZ GONZALEZ, Oscar. Intrinsic vulnerability of groundwater in the Almendares-Vento basin. riha [online]. 2020, vol.41, n.2, pp. 33-47.  Epub Mar 01, 2020. ISSN 1680-0338.

The natural vulnerability of Almendares - Vento basin was assessed by applying the RISK method. This method evaluates four variables: aquifer rock (R), infiltration conditions (I), cover or protective soil (S) and karstification (K). This method is modified through the evaluation of the protective cover of soil by applying the EVERC method. The natural vulnerability map of the basin was obtained at 1:100 000 scale. This research contributes significantly to the development of aquifer protection plans.

Keywords : karstic aquifers; EVERC; RISK; intrinsic vulnerability.
