Abstract

GONZALEZ PIEDRA, Julio Iván. Hydrological comparison between watersheds with different climatic conditions in Cuba. riha [online]. 2021, vol.42, n.1, pp. 14-26.  Epub Mar 01, 2021. ISSN 1680-0338.

The hydrological differences are analyzed in two Cuban hydrographic watersheds located at the country extremes, the San Diego watershed in Pinar del Río and Baconao in Santiago de Cuba, both with series of fifty years. According to the Lang Index and the improved Köppen classification, San Diego classifies as wet (Aw 2 ) and Baconao as subhumid (Aw 1 ). The runoff depth in San Diego is 1,4 times the value of Baconao. San Diego watershed exceeds the Baconao one by two to four times in annual runoff for dry years with high probabilities R 90 and R 99 . In San Diego, the indicators for water yield and hydrological efficiency are higher than in Baconao in the order of 1,6 times. The influence of physiogeographical characteristics on hydrological differentiation is demonstrated.

Keywords : runoff; hydrological efficiency; probability; water yield.
