Abstract

The environmental liabilities generated in the mining regions have caused the fragmentation of ecosystems and the contamination of surface and groundwater. The objective of the research is to develop an environmental and cartographic assessment of the impacts of environmental liabilities (EL) on the ecosystems and the hydrographic network of the Santa Lucia region. The Geographic Information System (GIS) with support in ArcGIS and the geological method of irregular itineraries in three sectors are used as tools. Observation was used in the two cartographic survey campaigns as an empirical method. The environmental and cartographic evaluation is conducted for the 62 EL inventory. The cartographic representation of the EL allows their correlation with hydrogeology and ecosystems.
