Abstract

VIVAS SALTOS, Holanda Teresa; CALDERON PINCAY, José Manuel; MENDOZA CEDENO, Laura Gema  and  CEDENO ZAMBRANO, José Gerardo. Removal of pollutants from wastewater using cationic polyelectrolyte extracted from Moringa oleifera seeds. Ing. hidrául. ambient. [online]. 2022, vol.43, n.2, pp. 84-96.  Epub May 20, 2022. ISSN 2788-6050.

This research aims to evaluate the efficiency of the cationic polyelectrolyte of Moringa oleifera in removing pollutants from wastewater. A completely randomized design was applied in a unifactorial arrangement, with four treatments and three repetitions. The cationic polyelectrolyte coagulant extracted from the moringa seed had a dose of 1, 2 and 4 mL and aluminum sulfate as a control. A sample of 9000 mL of residual water was taken, the physical characterization was carried out showing 120 mg/L of SST, 43.52 FAU of turbidity and 456 Pt / Co of color. There were no significant differences between treatments according to the ANOVA test (p: 0.707), so it is evidenced that the treatment based on moringa in its different concentrations is a good coagulant to remove contaminants in wastewater.
