Abstract

MORALES HERNANDEZ, Rigoberto; AMADOR NUNEZ, Manuel Alejandro; FERNANDEZ LORENZO, Ingrid  and  ELENA PARNAS, Vivian Beatriz. Validation of the CFD model of a low-rise building under wind loads with steady analysis. Ing. hidrául. ambient. [online]. 2022, vol.43, n.4, pp. 27-37.  Epub Mar 23, 2023. ISSN 2788-6050.

This work was carried out with the objective of validate the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model of a low-rise building, using for that the experimental data extracted from the boundary layer wind tunnel test executed by international authors. For the simulation was used the ANSYS Fluent software, employing the realizable k-ε turbulence model and a steady analysis. The results show a good fit, especially in the areas of the roof and side walls, where the existing differences between pressure coefficients are less than 10%. The experimental and simulated data were compared with the proposed by the Eurocode, obtaining a behavior similar for all the roof zones except the windward corners, where the code is conservative.

Keywords : steady analysis; pressure coefficients; computational fluid dynamics (CFD); low-rise buildings; validation.
