Abstract
GOMEZ MURCIA, Pedro R; ARMAS PEREZ, Luisa and GONZALEZ OCHOA, Edilberto. Evaluation of a synthetic indicator of a recent exogenous tuberculosis infection (INSIERT), Matanzas. Rev. Med. Electrón. [online]. 2012, vol.34, n.3, pp. 297-308. ISSN 1684-1824.
Objective: we assessed the application data of a synthetic indicator for monitoring/evaluating the recent exogenous tuberculosis transmission (INSIERT). Methods: we collected retrospective data of the tuberculosis surveillance in Matanzas, in standard conditions of the tuberculosis control in the period 2007-2010. The variables were P1= proportion of the tuberculosis cases notified in children aged 0 to 4 years old; P2= proportion of the tuberculosis cases notified in children aged 5 to 14 years old; P3= proportion of the tuberculosis cases notified in young people aged 15 to 24 years old; P4= proportion of the contacts who finished their initial investigations according to the indications of the National Program of the Tuberculosis Control. INSIERT may be built as follow: INSIERT= P1 (a) + P2 (b) + P3 (c)*[P4 (d)]. Results: the provincial total of INSIERT was moderated in 2007, 2008 and 2009, but it was very scarce in 2010, being valued as intense only in the municipality of Marti in 2007. Conclusion: INSIERT differentiates diverse temporal and territorial situations of the tuberculosis possible transmission, showing the feasibility and easiness of its application and interpretation.
