Abstract
DIAZ NUNEZ, Yenner Joaquín; FERNANDEZ ESCALONA, Frank and DIAZ NUNEZ, Yanet Cristina. Quantifying suppression based on contrast: a chromatic technique for dichoptic presentation. RCIM [online]. 2015, vol.7, n.2, pp.132-143. ISSN 1684-1859.
Clinic trials to evaluate suppression are generally designed to check only their presence. In this work the reliability of quantifying suppression based on contrast is evaluated. Dichoptic task for discrimination of global motion was used with a random dot kinematograms. A chromatic technique based on division of visible spectra, was used for development of dichoptic presentation, and the quantification variant comprising binocular and dichoptic stages was selected. To determinate the performance the staircase method was used. Despite the limitations of experiment, the results support the theory on the relevance of intraocular contrast imbalance in the suppression process; they confirm the reliability of quantifying suppression based on contrast and validate the feasibility of dichoptic chromatic technique.
Keywords : suppression quantification; balance point; global motion discrimination task; dichoptic chromatic technique.
