Abstract

LOPEZ FERNANDEZ, Ana Gloria et al. Assessment of the Research and Informatics Curricular Strategy in the First Year of the Medical Degree. RCIM [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.2  Epub Dec 01, 2021. ISSN 1684-1859.

Introduction:

The research training that health professionals receive in Cuba has a positive influence on scientific results and is addressed in the teaching-learning process of careers in Medical Sciences, especially Medicine.

Objective:

To assess the application of the Curricular Research and Informatics Strategy in Plan E for the first year of Medicine career in the faculty Salvador Allende.

Method:

A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out during the second semester of the 2019-2020 academic years. The population formed by the professors who teach the subject Introduction to Comprehensive General Medicine (MGI) in the Faculty Salvador Allende was considered. We worked with the program corresponding to said subject from plan E and with the bibliographic review works developed by the students in the first semester.

Results:

The MGI program explicitly and implicitly presents contents related to the subject Research Methodology, MGI professors propose to know the type of work that students do, and however, there is no knowledge of its characteristics and the selection of the topics by the students do not coincide with those of the bibliographic review carried out in the first semester.

Conclusions:

There are deficiencies in the implementation of the Curricular Research and Informatics Strategy that are manifested in the non-correspondence between the bibliographic review carried out in one semester and the selection of the topic by the students for the project profile in the following semester.
