Abstract

DE CASTRO SENA, Rômulo Mágnus  and  CHAVES MAIA, Eulália Maria. The use of the construct of self-esteem in health research in Brazil: conceptual contributions towards clinical practice. Rev Hum Med [online]. 2017, vol.17, n.2, pp. 383-395. ISSN 1727-8120.

The concept of self-esteem has changed throughout times. The objective of this study is analyzing how the use of this construct in health research in Brazil contributed to its conceptual systematization and clinical applicability. It is a descriptive study of bibliographic review which led to the conclusion that, by having another evaluation aspect, measuring self-esteem turned out to be very efficient in conducting the health research with different audiences that vary in age, occupation and the relation with sociodemographic and health-disease profiles.
