Abstract

ROQUE ROQUE, Lian; NODALS GARCIA, Carlos; GARCES GARCES, Blanca  and  MOLINA GóMEZ, Ana. Considerations in Devising Esthetic Education Strategies in Higher Medical Education. Medisur [online]. 2014, vol.12, n.6, pp. 881-888. ISSN 1727-897X.

The formation of esthetic values is an imperative emanating from the guidelines stated by the revolutionary government in programmatic documents such as the Sixth National Conference of the Party and the Central Committee declarations. It is a pedagogical task contributing to the construction of a sustainable socialism. This paper shows why and how to devise strategies for the formation of esthetic values in Higher Medical Education. The social mission of healthcare providers trained in Cuban universities, the current context in which these human resources are trained, the influences of the global estheticization of the society, the trend of esthetics in the XXI century, the role of esthetic taste in this task and the function of educational work and university extension in the systemic interrelation of the strategies are analyzed. The idea that esthetic values lead to experiences that result in ethical and human behaviors is argued.

Keywords : social values; concept formation; esthetics; education, higher; students, medical.
