Abstract

HERNANDEZ BETANCOURT, Jenny  and  SERRANO BARRERA, Orlando. Considerations about the integration of clinical laboratory and clinical method. Medisur [online]. 2016, vol.14, n.5, pp. 600-604. ISSN 1727-897X.

In literature there is a great variety of approximations about the relations of laboratory exams and clinical method, which range from the exclusion of laboratory as component of the method, till the reiteration of its indiscriminate use. In the present work some opinions about the issue are reviewed and commented. Laboratory is not only in close interrelation with the clinical method but it transcends it, because it is also a component of the epidemiological method, at the same time it has a relevant role in the processes of knowledge and development, as research are. It is in teaching where major opportunities are found in searching alternatives and solutions which promote the integration of clinical and laboratory elements. Promoting the training and developing specific clinical skills is a demand of the society which urges to be attended.

Keywords : labotatories; clinical diagnosis; diagnostic techniques and procedures; clinical medicine; teaching.
