MOLINA CINTRA, Matilde de la Caridad et al. Fertility in Cuba. Views to different contexts. Medisur [online]. 2020, vol.18, n.4, pp.545-563.  Epub Aug 02, 2020. ISSN 1727-897X.

The behavior of fertility in Cuba in recent decades has had a determining role in changing the population age structure, which has led to rapid population aging. This article is aimed at updating the status of this variable in Cuba, its evolution, changes and peculiarities. Reproduction cross-disciplinary view stands out, where some particularities stand out; among them, decision-making processes in reproduction and the most vulnerable groups of women, adolescent fertility, as well as the characteristics of fertility in Cuban women living in the United States. Cuban fertility is characterized by a declining trajectory in levels below replacement, with an early structure, predominance of first-order children, and an increasing contribution of adolescent girls. In the case of Cuban women settled in the United States, they behave similarly.

Keywords : Fertility; population; demography; pregnancy in adolescence; human migration.
