Abstract

Background:

In the quality assurance of university programs, self-evaluation plays a fundamental role and the methodological conception of how to develop it is a necessity.

Objective:

to validate the proposed methodology for the development of self-evaluation in the Medicine Programs at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Cienfuegos.

Methods:

the Delphi method and empirical methods were applied to evaluate the results of the implementation of the proposed methodology, which include group dynamics, survey, document review and observation.

Results:

The experts evaluated the proposed methodology as very adequate, taking into account the procedures that make up its stages and phases, the evaluation of the guiding ideas of the recommendations that are issued for its implementation, as well as the achievement of a group of attributes represented by its systemic approach, flexibility, applicability, participatory character, clarity and utility. The practical implementation evidenced positive results for each of the stages and in an integral way, confirming its contribution to the development of the self-evaluation since it enabled continuous improvement of the process.

Conclusion:

The methodology was valued as very adequate by the experts consulted, its practical implementation demonstrated the improvement of planning, execution, control and adjustment of the process, increased the culture of management and quality evaluation in the university community of the Medicine Career the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Cienfuegos, as well as the institutionalization of good practices that show the acceptance of the proposal.
