Multiple transformations have been made in medical education in Cuba in recent years. The pillars that support the formation of Health professionals are not only governed by ethical principles and humanists, but works in processes that guarantee the sustainability and quality of services. It should be noted that the specialist training is undoubtedly a priority to achieve these purposes, so the Vertical Internship modality is a very wise decision, which allows the flexibility of the curriculum. In this work are proposed as essential ideas the development of this modality from the intentional tutoring with the student assistants, as well as the importance of promoting the acquisition of skills and competences from undergraduate, for specialist training.
