Abstract

A descriptive, retrospective, and longitudinal study was done with deceased patients for cerebrovascular disease (CVD) during the year 2006 at the hospital Julio Trigo Lopez, a revision was done with clinical history, the protocols of postmortem examination and dead persons' cards; The results were registered in poll manufactured for this purpose, collecting data on age, sex, CVD's type, color of the skin, and direct cause of death. Mortality for CVD is bigger in hemorrhagic type than ischemic one, majority were men and black men die proportionally more than white people for hemorrhagic disease, while women die more frequent by ischemic CVD. The hemorrhage was the direct fatal cause in over the 90 % of dead persons for hemorrhagic CVD, while ischemic was by bacterial bronchopneumonia.
