Abstract

ARRIETA ZULUETA, Mercedes  and  PORTAL PORTAL, Dalia Antonia. Malaria in children: epidemiological and clinical factors, the patients entered in Hospital of Sunyani. Ghana 2006. Rev haban cienc méd [online]. 2010, vol.9, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1729-519X.

It was carried out a descriptive retrospective longitudinal study of 385 cases with clinical and biological diagnosis of malaria, entered in the Hospital of Sunyani, Ghana, in the year 2006, with the objective of identify clinical and epidemiologists features attending to: sex, age group, clinical characteristics, associate illness, complications and principals causes of death. Outputs: There was prevalence of the masculine sex with a pick in the group of 1-4 years having like principal clinical manifestations: fever, paleness, weakness, vomits, loss of the appetite, fit, diarrhoea, cough, alteration of the conscience and lacking in air. The 74.36% of the cases introduced malnutrition, being the severe anaemia the most complication. The meningitis associates to the septicaemia were the principal causes of death .Conclusions: the malaria constitutes an important cause of infantile morbimortality in Ghana.
