Abstract

Health care has been changing in the last decades, from an assistance system focused on the disease only to attention to the citizen. At present, information and communications technologies have combined to lead to a telemedicine to provide medical assistance to those living in distant places, including health education, public and community health, development of health and prevention programs, epidemiological studies among others. The cornerstone for telemedicine to go forward is its own nature, its potential practical applications that make it necessary for doctors as same as patients. In this way, the authors did a bibliography research to deep in this definition, impact and the need to apply these new technologies to improve medical assistance.
