ALVAREZ RODRIGUEZ, Javier; CLAVERA VAZQUEZ, Teresita de Jesús; BECERRA ALONSO, Odalys  and  RODRIGUEZ LEDESMA, Ernesto Boris. The Endodontic Treatment in a non-vital dental pulp. Clinic following in a single consult. Rev haban cienc méd [online]. 2014, vol.13, n.2, pp. 219-226. ISSN 1729-519X.

Introduction: the Endodontic during the last century reflects a tendency to perform the radical endodontic treatment in two or more outpatient consults taking into account the diagnostics that indicate the existence of a non-vital dental pulp. The simplification of the procedure regarding the number of outpatient consults was possible taking into account the history of the dental pulp disease. Objective: to evaluate the effectiveness of the endodontic radical treatment in a non-vital dental pulp in a single outpatient consult. Material and method: a descriptive cross sectional research (study) was performed to a sample of 171 teeth from 157 patients who attended to two dental clinics from Playa municipality and presented different dental pulp pathologies, all of them subordinated to the objective of the research; the endodontic conventional treatment was applied on the patients in only one session. Results: the 81.87% of the treated patients did not show any symptom in their recovery. Only an 18.13% presented some sign of apical periodontitis, before they had a week counting since the day of the visit. The comparison between the results obtained and the results of other authors shows similarities with low percentage differences. Conclusions: the endodontic treatment in only one visit, for teeth with non-vital dental pulp is feasible to make in any pulp pathology, resulting favorable for the patient and also for the dentist.
