Abstract

CORDOVES-SANTIESTEBAN, Alexander Armando. Affirmative Action’s Observatory of the Federal University of Santa Catarina. Thinking of its reconfiguration. Luz [online]. 2023, vol.22, n.3, pp. 21-31.  Epub Sep 15, 2023. ISSN 1814-151X.

Affirmative action policies (AAP) implemented in Brazilian universities have modified university environments. Its transformation as an intercultural space has been important, and has required innumerable efforts. It has also contributed to other institutional, personal and relationship transformations, as a tool to reduce inequalities of access to one of the most unequal spaces. Nevertheless, it has also generated resistance. The implementation of public policies is not a smooth process, nor is it instantaneous. And when it comes to modifying a structurally uneven system, it is important to follow the processes involved. One of the devices that are created are the so-called social observatories. This paper analyzes the context of PAA at the Federal University of Santa Catarina in Brazil, and the existence of the Observatory of Affirmative Actions, linked to the Group of Researches on Indigenous Populations (NEPI). Based on this, some criteria are proposed aimed at its future reorganization.
