Abstract

The analysis of the influence of the shape of the city in the thermal microclimate thoroughly allows the knowing of the urban elements that support the transformation of the city to more comfortable outdoor environments through planning and urban design. This research aims to determine the thermal microclimate in Saguala Grande city from the previous knowledge of the predominating typological-formal areas. For monitoring of climatic variables, measuring points were located in a mesh throughout the settlement covering all morphological zones. The results have shownclimatecontrast betweenthe urbanized areaand its immediate surroundings, as well as at different times ofday and betweenformaltypologicalareasthat characterize the city. It is furtherconfirmed thatthe measurement pointsina significant relationshipbetween urbanelements that shapeand behavior ofthe climaticvariables.
