Abstract

VIZCON TOLEDO, Roberto  and  SANCHEZ PORTILLA, Florentino. Energy Potential to Codigest Cattle manure, sewage sludge and food waste. Energética [online]. 2019, vol.40, n.1, pp. 20-29. ISSN 1815-5901.

Today the world currently suffers from serious pollution and health problems, due to the lack of adequate treatment of organic waste generated by the natural activities of living beings, including bovine manure, sewage sludge and food waste; nevertheless, these residuals when they are co-digested anaerobically, offer benefits such as obtaining biogas, harmless biofertilizers and reducing environmental damage and human health. This research, with stirred reactors on a laboratory scale, these residuals were co-digested anaerobically in different proportions. The results obtained shows, in the first instance, that the process is justified. because it is obtained an energy potential of between 1,32-8,92 MJ/kg of total solids, more than with the burning of 1 kg of manure; and on the other hand, establish the limits of the organic load and observe the growth of the energy potential of the process, due to the possible synergic effect that the mixture offers on food waste.

Keywords : organic waste; energy assessment; co-digestion.
