Abstract
MONDELO-GARCIA, Francisco-Jesús et al. Physical characterization with difractograms and swelling of organophilic bentonites to add to polymer composites. Ingeniería Mecánica [online]. 2014, vol.17, n.2, pp. 118-128. ISSN 1815-5944.
The bentonites with microstructure particles combined by plates tetrahedral and octahedral silicon-aluminous contain interlaminares cavities including, conferring positive qualities for use in inks, medicines, drilling fluids; retain polluting waste residuals and as polymer reinforcements. The objective to hydrate and organically modified with organic quaternary salt of hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium chloride type and sodium salt the sodium bentonites Northeast Brazilian and Patagonia Argentina, Brazilian polycationics, calcium activated and zeolite both Cuban, establishing a characterization was achieved between samples untreated and organophilized. These materials are comparatively evaluated by diffraction ray X and swelling Foster in organic solvents. The results confirmed a significant variation in the physic-chemical and microstructural diffractograms organophilic bentonites, while the micron particles taken nanometric dimensions, was increased much more the swelling in these, enhancing the effectiveness of use, employing them as the reinforcement, added to a polymer matrix.
