Abstract

TORRADO RAMOS, Amarilys Mercedes et al. Population aging: a look from the public policies and programs from Latin America, Europe and Asia. Rev Nov Pob [online]. 2014, vol.10, n.19, pp. 18-29. ISSN 1817-4078.

The aging process of the population sets the government agendas on an international level. Cuba is no alien to that demographic phenomenon. For that reason, the aim of this article is to offer an approximation to some applied policies and programs in European, Latin American and Caribbean countries. Here is presented an historical overview of how this theme has been dealt with in international as well as regional conferences and Assemblies and it is developed through two sources: public policies and programs for a comprehensive attention of third age and on the other side, the pro-natal policies that include the case of Japan and France. It was not our aim to set critical positions but it was necessary to achieve final considerations of what we were able to compile.

Keywords : demographic aging; public policies; programs.
