The objective of this paper is to analyze the telecommunications in territorial integration process in Brazil, taking into account their role in socio-spatial transformations, contributing their results to the geographical understanding of this universe dating back initially to monarchic period in Brazil and extends to the days current with the privatization phenomenon. Throughout history, the telecommunications in the country showed different patterns in the use of the territory. In a few moments the state was more present controlling and monopolizing the sector and others remained as the regulator and supervisory, supporting their concession and privatization. In this sense, the interpretation was built by different methodological procedures, among which is relevant to mention reading reference works on the subject, evaluation of secondary data which were systematized and interpreted from the geographical discussion; collected in public institutions like academic libraries, in the specialized media and other means. Therefore, understand this situation of appropriation of territory is essential to reveal the inequalities socio-spatial engendered from the movement of consolidation of the technical-scientific-informational. Therefore, the aim of this work is related to the need to expand, in Geography, a discussion of telecommunications. Finally, it is expected with the text offer subsidies for the characterization of the subject, highlighting some of the variables related to this context, as well as certain policies of the territorial State.
