Abstract

GONZALEZ GALBAN, Humberto  and  JOSEPH JUNIOR, Pierre. Analysis of fertility in Haiti in the context of the later demographic transition in Latin America. Rev Nov Pob [online]. 2016, vol.12, n.24, pp. 14-29. ISSN 1817-4078.

The trend in the birth rate and mortality shows that Haiti is in demographic transition. En this regard, a significant decline in fertility has been observed in recent years. Thus, the objective of this research is to explain the determinants of recent changes in fertility in Haiti, where the decline of this variable has been the highlight. The data used in this research are obtained from Survey Mortality, Morbidity and Utilization of Services, carried out by the Haitian Institute of Childhood in 2000, 2005 and 2012. This type of survey was designed to collect, analyze and disseminate the demands on family planning. This study may provide important information about potential factors that could stimulate fertility reduction and facilitate the Haitian government and health organizations involved in the development of a policy of family planning and reproductive health increased coverage and quality.
