Abstract

HERNANDEZ CEDENO, Eniuska; LOPEZ BAUTA, Adis Aymee  and  ECHEVARRIA PINERO, Ana Laura. Characterization of childhood attachment and conjugal attachment in a group of first-time pregnant women admitted to maternity homes. Rev Nov Pob [online]. 2019, vol.15, n.30, pp. 1-11.  Epub Apr 15, 2020. ISSN 1817-4078.

A descriptive study was conducted in the Maternity Homes Ismaelillo and Esperanza del Mundo, with the objective of characterizing the attachment they developed in their childhood with their primary caregiver and the attachment that they currently maintain with their partner, a group of first-time women admitted to these institutions. A qualitative methodology was adopted, based on the implementation of the group device. The sample consisted of 12 pregnant first-time women. The results reflect that these women tend to idealize the bond they developed with the caregiver of their childhood, possess positive mental representations of these figures and appropriate representations about themselves in this relationship. It is noted, in some of them, the need to receive professional accompaniment to carry out processes of elaboration and resignification of the relationship with their primary caregiver as part of the coping of latent conflicts in their personal affective history and their preparation to play the role maternal. As for conjugal attachment, mental representations about their relationship and their spouse tend to be equally idealized. Women with representations that contain both positive and negative characteristics of their love bond and who recognize their partner as an attachment figure are now approximately 30 years of age and their relationship was established 3 years prior to pregnancy.

Keywords : Conjugal attachment; childhood attachment; first-time pregnant women.
