Rheumatic diseases may be active during pregnancy necessitating drug treatment in order to control maternal disease activity and ensure a successful pregnancy outcome. The great majority of patients with autoimmune rheumatic diseases are young females in their reproductive years, willing to have babies. Patients with systemic lupus erythematosus and antiphospholipid syndrome diagnosis have probable complications during pregnancy so they need preventive medical care. Pregnancy in women with rheumatic diseases represents a challenge for patients and physicians and requires optimal shared decision-making strategies. Specific preconception care should be offered to women with rheumatic diseases to optimize and increase the chances of a successful pregnancy. We made a literature review in order to study the useful of the preconception advice in pregnant women with rheumatic diseases.
