Small and Medium Enterprises play a crucial role in the formation and development of Local Productive Systems. These represent an opportunity for small companies to remain in the market and contribute to the economic and social development of the territories in which they are located, generating new employment opportunities, training, diversification of markets, among others. In this endeavor, the diverse local actors have to be articulated in a system, emphasizing the role of the University as an educational entity with a broad social impact and a responsibility in education in values. The article addresses the role of Small and Medium Enterprises in the formation of Local Productive Systems and the insertion of university education as a key actor in this process.
