The purpose is to explain how the Science, Technology and Society approach represents a mediation for the teaching of Natural Sciences, particularly Chemistry. Starting from this premise, it is imperative to approach the construction of explanatory models, by understanding three levels of thought proposed by Johnstone, A. H. (2006), for chemical reactions: macroscopic, microscopic and symbolic levels
