MATOS REYES, Evidio and CABRERA PEREZ, Yasleidy. The exercise of reading from a multicultural optics. Conrado [online]. 2019, vol.15, n.68, pp. 64-68. Epub Sep 02, 2019. ISSN 1990-8644.
When teaching a foreign language, the teacher in charge of the teaching - learning process in a multicultural context must be aware of the complexity of the skills to be developed. They impose themselves: read and listen to capture the information; speak and write to communicate. In the specific case of reading, the development of this not only presupposes the oral reproduction of the signs of the written language, but also the interpretation of the message that is communicated, which depends to a large extent on knowledge of the lexicon and socio-cultural elements of the context in which the student learns. The teacher who teaches Spanish as a foreign language must have a clear goal to achieve in each course. In the case of students from different nations, from other social systems, with other beliefs and practices of diverse cultural traditions that force the teacher to use special treatments, so that the student feels comfortable, motivated and attracted towards what each day brings the teacher. The authors of this work propose a selection of texts of different types, genres and authors so that students who learn the Spanish language in Cuba demonstrate their reading skills.
