El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo efectuar un análisis sobre la participación en tareas de investigación académica por parte de docentes y estudiantes de la carrera de educación básica, de la Universidad Técnica de Machala, periodo lectivo 2017 - 2018. Como metodología se consideró el enfoque cuanti-cualitativo, además, se aplicó un cuestionario para recoger las opiniones de docentes y estudiantes sobre su intervención en actividades investigativas. Entre los principales resultados destacan, que el 48% de los educandos manifestaron no haber participado nunca en proyectos de investigación, concluyéndose que aún persisten deficiencias en la labor formativa del futuro docente, además se observaron carencias en el trato de la fundamentación teórica, lo que a la postre repercute en una escasa vinculación de los interrogados en labores de investigación.

The objective of this study was to carry out an analysis on the participation in academic research tasks by teachers and students of the basic education career, of the Technical University of Machala, 2017-2018 academic period. The quantitative approach was considered as a methodology -qualitative, in addition, a questionnaire was applied to collect the opinions of teachers and students about their intervention in research activities. Among the main results, it is worth highlighting that 48% of the students state that they have never participated in a research project, concluding that there are still deficiencies in the formative work of the future teacher, in addition there were deficiencies in the treatment of the theoretical foundation, which In the end, it has a low link between respondents in research work.
