Reading and its understanding, in the university context, has been mediated by the development of the metalector dimension, as an expression of the attention to the development component of the training content, with a determining role in the interpretation and construction of the reading knowledge system, which makes synthesis in the elevation of the general culture of the students; Therefore, in this article theoretical clarifications are made so that teachers, in their didactic action, undertake the methodological treatment of this exercise by the generation of inferences, so that the intersubjectivity and culture accumulated by the students become interpretative-constructionist entities, conceived as resources for the reading and production of meanings. Bringing together instruction and education for the intellectual development and growth of students is vital in the process of integrating them.
