Cancer is the most common disease in young women which can lead to death. In the Puyo Provincial Hospital 96% of the cases of breast cancer are treatable if detected early, although measures such as self-examination can alert about the presence of tumors, by the time they are palpable they have a considerable size. Whose objective is "to develop an educational strategy aimed at the prevention of breast cancer in women over 35 years of age treated at the Puyo Provincial Hospital", in the period April 2017-April 2018; the methodology used was qualitative-quantitative of a descriptive-analytical type, the sample was made up of 45 women who came to the Hospital for consultation. The most relevant results showed that 80% of the participants stated that they did not have a clear idea about breast cancer and its risk factors, 93.33% had not performed a frequent breast self-examination, and 100% considered that it would be beneficial to implement an educational strategy aimed at preventing this disease. In the conclusions, it was determined that the application of the proposal would benefit both patients and nursing staff.
