One of the most important challenges when establishing orthodontic treatment is to achieve and maintain a good adherence that allows obtaining results in terms of success for the improvement of health. The objective of this work is to describe the importance of therapeutic adherence in children with orthodontic treatment. A bibliographic review was carried out; Thesis, original and review articles were considered, for a total of 18 articles in Spanish and English and of them approximately 90% were framed from 2016-2021. The search was carried out in the databases SciELO, Google academic, in the period of March 2021. The method of analysis of publications was used to extract the relevant information; The ordering and combination of the information collected was carried out. It is concluded that therapeutic adherence can have a protective role, since it is a behavior that contributes to the non-progression of the disease, favors its control, avoids complications and improves the quality of life of the patient. Psychoeducation constitutes a point of support in the care of children with orthodontic treatment, being of great importance because it makes it easier for them to accept their pathology, improve their adherence to said treatment.
