Alimony pensions represent economic resources from the state to help people with certain limitations. Ensuring its control represents a way of safeguarding the budget from public spending. However, there is sometimes evidence of deficient control over the resources allocated to alimony. The present investigation proposes a solution to the problem raised from the development of a multi-criteria method for the control of the economic resources assigned as alimony. The method uses fuzzy cognitive mapping to model uncertainty. The proposal introduced the results in a case study where it was possible to determine the control index of the economic resources assigned as alimony.
