In Latin American education, a significant debate is opening about what and how to teach Philosophy. The proposals tend to emphasize educational renewal; but a critical look at the contents is required. The author's reflection on the reality in Colombia, facing all of Latin America, discovers an important gap that has become indebted to the Brazilian philosopher, sociologist and pedagogue Paulo Freire. In this paper, the reasons that justify the relevance of including it in the curriculum and redefining the study of Freire's life and work are exposed, which is, without a doubt, a legacy of ideas and practices that have not yet been studied with the required depth. The work based on the systematization of the author's reflections and his investigative projection in the Doctoral program in Education at the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology of Panama raises the ideas of a larger project that leaves projected a proposal to follow in the framework of the Colombian secondary education curriculum.
