This paper reflects on the relevance of promoting the writing of policy papers in political science university teaching, as a strategy to encourage academic literacy processes and participation in discursive communities. For this purpose, the structure of this type of writing is described and the main advantages of its instrumentation for pedagogical purposes are identified. Likewise, one case study of the Argentine university system in which this strategy was implemented is characterized.
