The study shown in this article was carried out using the action-research methodology, for which the techniques and instruments that were applied to sixteen professors of the Department of Special Education of the University of Ciego de Ávila were planned and designed, which allowed the characterization, in a first moment, of the process for the development of investigative abilities in the first cohort of the study plan E, in a second moment the preliminary exploration of the state of the intellectual abilities of the students was carried out, for this purpose, we worked with a population of five first-year students, in the 2019-2020 academic year and eight students who entered the 2021 academic year. For the development of the research, methods and techniques typical of qualitative studies were used, which were combined with experimental research methods and methods of the theoretical level that were used to conceptually analyze and interpret reality with the aim of proposing a model for the development of investigative skills with a professional approach in students of the Bachelor's degree in Speech Therapy Education.
