In Colombia enormous efforts are done for looking for alternatives that allow to solve the conflicts of a pacific way, to overcome the social exclusion, to open new spaces for the civil participation, to face the high indexes of corruption and to achieve more harmonious relations in several social environments, especially in the prison establishments where they present innumerable problems of accumulation, violation of human rights, bad conviviality, situations that seemed to be accentuated as the time passes. The present work has as aim analyze some historical precedents of the penitentiary system and think about the hard reality that is lived inside these establishments in Colombia.
