Abstract

LOPEZ ANGULO, Yaranay  and  ALMEYDA VAZQUEZ, Annia. Actual status of the competence professional orientation of professors at bachelor's degree institutes in Havana. Varona [online]. 2019, n.69  Epub Dec 01, 2019. ISSN 1992-8238.

The optimization of the professional orientation process is one of the current challenges of 21st century education. An appropriate professional choice affects the professional motivation, avoids the desertions of the university and facilitates the insertion to the labor market. In the process of professional choice, teachers from pre-university institutes play a fundamental role, who have within their main functions the realization of professional guidance. Given the lack of empirical evidence about how professional guidance is carried out, this research was proposed as objectives to characterize the vocational guidance process and to diagnose the current status of the professional guidance professors. A qualitative approach and a phenomenological design were used. The sample consisted of experts on the subject (n = 3), managers (n = 3) and professors (n = 29) of three pre-university institutes in Havana. As a result, it was found that the level of information and updating regarding the professional orientation process is insufficient; an organized and efficient strategy is not visualized from the teaching-educational process. In coherence, the level of preparation of teachers to develop this function is deficient.

Keywords : professional guidance; teachers of secondary education and competencies.
