Abstract

HERNANDEZ FLORES, Alberto; AGYEI, George  and  ROJAS PURON, Arturo Luis. Fractional densometric assessment for the laterite ore body: Enrichment evaluation. Min. Geol. [online]. 2017, vol.33, n.3, pp. 292-310. ISSN 1993-8012.

The purpose of this investigation is to conduct a fractional analysis to a Punta Gorda ore sample within the granulometric interval of 2,0+0,074 mm considering physical characteristics, diameter and particle density. A bi-dimensional function is obtained by the thickness or diameter and by the density through the combination of screening analysis and density fraction separation with the use of different dense media. The experimental function is determined through chemical analysis. The evaluation of the benefits is carried out using method of the separation theory and the technological parameters are obtained. The main result is a concentrate with the separation of a higher percent of magnesium and aluminum of 94,89 % and 91,15 %, respectively. This allows foreseeing the improvement of the quality and stability of the ore feed to the mining process and diversifying the use of resources.

Keywords : granulometry; fractional analysis; enrichment; laterite ore body; density; distribution function.
