Abstract

HERNANDEZ-GARCES, Anel; REINOSA-VALLADARES, Mirtha  and  HERNANDEZ-BILBAO, Francisco. Atmospheric pollutants from sugar mills from Holguín Province. Min. Geol. [online]. 2018, vol.34, n.3, pp. 363-373. ISSN 1993-8012.

The introduction of bioelectric stations with bagasse as fuel could contribute to the solution of air pollution. This study estimates the SO2, NOx and particulate matter (PM) emitted by steam generators by sugar mills of Holguín province as a precedent for future evaluation of bioelectric plants. Lower emission values than those emitted by thermoelectric plants and power generators were obtained, but several higher sequences than those of conventional steam generators using hydrocarbons as fuel. It was concluded that verifying the emissions with the maximum admissible of NC / TS 803: 2010, for the category of existing sources showed that the legal maximums for MP and NOx of all chimneys are higher. However, none of the emissions exceeds the value set for SO2.

Keywords : bioelectric; atmospheric pollutants; sugar mills; steam generator.
