Abstract

TORRES-BATISTA, Yordanis; RODRIGUEZ-CORDOVA, Roberto Guillermo  and  REYNALDO-ARGUELLES, Clara Luz. Proposal of a procedure for the mining rehabilitation in open-cast operations. Min. Geol. [online]. 2019, vol.35, n.1, pp. 25-44. ISSN 1993-8012.

Rehabilitation is the process of restoring an ecosystem when it has been destroyed or devastated by extreme disturbances. The purpose of this work is to propose a procedure to incorporate the economic and social spheres to the mining rehabilitation; structured in eight stages, the procedure establishes a new theoretical-methodological conception of the rehabilitation areas degraded by mining, which will contribute to the sustainability of the affected ecosystem and can be extended to other deposits whose exploitation is carried out in the open.

Keywords : mining rehabilitation; degraded ecosystems; open-pit.
