Abstract

RIVERA-ALVAREZ, Zulima. Methodology for 2D geological modeling of Santiago de Cuba city. Min. Geol. [online]. 2019, vol.35, n.4, pp.400-418. ISSN 1993-8012.

To obtain a 2D geological model in Santiago de Cuba city, a methodology was proposed (1:25 000 scale). The aim of the model is the site effect calculation and modeling soil, based on 61 geological profiles calibrated with geological, geotechnical, and morphological, geophysical, tectonic and seismic information. Profiles cross the entire city in a regular 500 x 500 m mesh. The longitudinal and cutting velocity values (Vp, Vs) were obtained in geophysical measurement campaigns for each kind of predominant material. This model allows interpreting the fault trough and its stratigraphy better. All information is collected in databases and results are supported in a geographic information system (ArcGis 10).

Keywords : 2D geological modeling; geological profiles; stratigraphy.
